What is a Jito Bundle? Solana MEV Explained
Deep dive into how Jito MEV bundles work on Solana and why they're the foundation of every professional memecoin launch.
What is Jito?
Jito is a Solana client (validator software) that implements MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) infrastructure. Jito Labs built a block engine that allows users to submit "bundles" of transactions that are guaranteed to execute atomically and in order within a single block. Over 90% of Solana validators run Jito, making it the dominant MEV infrastructure on the network.
What is a Jito Bundle?
A Jito bundle is a group of 2-5 transactions that are submitted together with these guarantees:
- Atomic execution: All transactions in the bundle succeed, or none of them execute. No partial fills.
- Ordered execution: Transactions execute in the exact order you specify within the bundle.
- Same block: All bundle transactions land in the same Solana block.
- Priority: Bundles that pay higher Jito tips get priority placement in blocks.
How Jito Bundles Work for Token Launches
When you launch a token with SolBundler, here's what happens under the hood:
All of these transactions execute in the same Solana block — block 0 of the token's existence. The atomic guarantee means if any transaction fails, the entire bundle is reverted. You either get your full bundle buy or nothing.
Jito Tips: How Much to Pay?
Jito validators accept bundles based on the tip amount. Higher tips = higher priority. For memecoin launches:
- Minimum: 0.001 SOL — works during low congestion
- Standard: 0.003-0.005 SOL — reliable for most launches
- High priority: 0.01+ SOL — for competitive launches or high congestion
