What Is Mayhem Mode on Pump.fun?

SolBundler Team · Updated November 2026 · 4 min read

Mayhem Mode is an opt-in launch setting on Pump.fun. When a creator turns it on, an AI agent run by Pump.fun trades the new coin for its first 24 hours, using an extra billion tokens minted for it, and burns whatever it has left at the end.

The idea is to give a fresh coin activity from the first minute. The catch is that some of that activity is a bot.

How it works

An AI agent trades the coin

For the first 24 hours after launch, an autonomous agent run by Pump.fun buys and sells the coin with a random mix of trades.

Extra supply for the agent

A Mayhem coin gets an additional 1 billion tokens for the agent, so the total supply is 2 billion instead of the usual 1 billion.

Leftovers are burned

After 24 hours, every token the agent still holds is burned. Tokens sent to the agent's wallet during the period are burned too.

Only at creation

The creator opts in when creating the coin. It cannot be switched on for a coin already trading on the curve or one that has graduated.

For creators: should you turn it on?

Mayhem Mode buys you early trading activity without spending your own SOL on volume. In exchange your coin starts with twice the usual supply, and buyers who know about the mode will discount the first day's chart.

It does not replace a real launch plan. The agent trades randomly; it does not hold, promote, or bring a community. If you want your own wallets in the first block before snipers, that is still a bundle, not Mayhem Mode. Compare the costs with the launch cost calculator.

For buyers: reading a Mayhem coin

On a Mayhem coin, early buys and sells partly come from the agent, and the supply is not final until the burn after 24 hours. Look past the volume: who bought in the launch block, how much the creator holds, and whether the holders are real wallets.

On-chain details

Mayhem Mode is set through the is_mayhem_mode flag of Pump's create_v2 instruction, which also passes a separate Mayhem program (MAyhSmzXzV1pTf7LsNkrNwkWKTo4ougAJ1PPg47MD4e). Mayhem coins cannot be routed through multi-hop swaps or taken over by a community takeover. Details and error codes: Pump.fun program reference.

Questions

What is Mayhem Mode on Pump.fun?

An opt-in launch mode where an AI trading agent run by Pump.fun buys and sells a new coin during its first 24 hours, using 1 billion extra tokens minted for it. Whatever the agent still holds after 24 hours is burned.

How do I turn on Mayhem Mode?

Choose it when you create the coin. On-chain it is a flag in Pump's create_v2 instruction (is_mayhem_mode). It cannot be added after launch, and Pump.fun can switch the feature off, in which case creation with the flag fails with MayhemModeDisabled (error 6048).

Does Mayhem Mode change the supply?

Yes. The total supply is 2 billion tokens: the usual 1 billion plus 1 billion for the agent. Unsold agent tokens are burned after 24 hours, so the final supply ends up between 1 and 2 billion.

Is volume on a Mayhem coin real?

Part of it comes from the agent during the first 24 hours. Treat early volume on a Mayhem coin as partly automated, and look at who else is buying.

When did Mayhem Mode start?

The agent's activity was first spotted on November 12, 2025, after the feature appeared in Pump.fun's docs without a formal announcement.
